The City of Burien is launching a new neighborhood grants program to encourage projects that foster community and create community improvements in an equitable manner. The Burien Neighborhood Grants program will provide up to $5,000 per project. Community members must match the grant with an equally valued amount of local resources that could include volunteer labor, donated materials, donated professional services, or cash.

Projects that qualify for a neighborhood matching grant can improve the local community and be completed by the end of 2023. They must be within the Burien city limits and meet other specific criteria.

All projects will be required to have a Neighborhood Project Coordinator to be the liaison between the City and the neighborhood during project development and implementation.

Project applications will be evaluated on the quality of the project, neighborhood participation and benefit, visibility, and benefit to the public.
