Community Invited to Green Burien Partnership Environmental Restoration Events in Burien Parks this Fall

To celebrate the kickoff of planting season in the Pacific Northwest, the Green Burien Partnership is hosting several environmental restoration events in Burien parks this fall. All events are open to the public, kid friendly, with no experience necessary. Refreshments, gloves, and tools will be offered for each event. Pre-registration is required for all events.

 

Green Burien Day

When: October 21, 2023, 10 a.m.–1 p.m.  
Where:
Hilltop Park, 2600 S 128th St

Join the City of Burien, EarthCorps, Partner in Employment, and King Conservation District at Hilltop Park as we celebrate our fourth annual Green Burien Day. We'll be working together to plant hundreds of native plants while enjoying live music! This event is open for everyone, no experience necessary. Register online.

Hazel Valley Park Weeding and Planting

When: October 28, 2023, 10 a.m.–1 p.m.  
Where: Hazel Valley Park, 251 SW 126th St

Join the City of Burien and EarthCorps at Hazel Valley Park for a fun and informative environmental restoration event. We’ll be removing non-native weeds, planting, and creating opportunities to talk about the role that people play in protecting our planet’s natural resources and building community with one another. We’ll teach you everything you need to know about tool use, safety, forest health, and the importance of the work you will be doing. No experience necessary, just come ready to learn something new! Dottie Harper Park Replanting

When: December 9, 10 a.m.–noon
Where: Dottie Harper Park, 421 SW 146th St

Thanks to the hard work of area volunteers, we now have space cleared of weeds and it's time to replant it! And thanks to a community grant, we have plants! We'll be planting native trees, shrubs, and other understory plants in an area cleared of weeds by our hard-working volunteers. This event is open for everyone, no experience necessary.
