The City of Burien is kicking off a celebration of LGBTQIA+ Pride Month by raising the Pride flag over Burien City Hall in a ceremony to be held on June 1, 2023 from 10-10:30 a.m. City Councilmembers and members of the Burien Pride Committee, a community-led group that organizes Burien’s annual Pride event, will provide remarks during the speaking portion of the program. The community is invited to be part of the event and watch the flag be raised. The inclusive Pride flag, which represents multiple identities within the LGBTQIA+ community, will fly over Burien City Hall throughout the month of June. This will be the third year that a Pride flag has been raised.

“This flag is a representation of our celebration of Burien’s diverse community,” said Adolfo Bailon, Burien City Manager. “We stay committed to fostering an inclusive work environment here while also addressing systemic barriers to inclusion for all throughout our city.”

Discover Burien will again hang Pride flags on light poles throughout downtown Burien. The Burien Pride event will occur in downtown Burien, June 3-5, 2023. The all-day street festival will feature music, DJs, a beer garden, and over 100 vendor booths in Burien Town Square and surrounding streets.

On May 22, 2023, the Burien City Council will issue a proclamation in honor of LGBTQIA+ Pride Month during their regular meeting. The community is invited to the reading of this proclamation celebrating our LGBTQIA+ community members.
