From ongoing street maintenance to major infrastructure improvements, the Public Works Department is dedicated to improving and maintaining Burien's streets and infrastructure. Public Works staff work throughout the year on various projects, such as installing safer crosswalks, maintaining stormwater systems, and improving streets and traffic flows.
Recent changes to State law have updated the methods available to Burien staff for contracting outside companies for small construction and repair projects. To comply with State law and City policy, Burien staff have developed a Small Business Utilization Plan in order to utilize Direct Contracting for Small Works construction projects. This plan will be updated annually, with the current plan available for public review below.
