The City of Burien will celebrate its 30th anniversary of incorporation on February 28, 2023. Residents of Burien voted to incorporate as a non-charter code city, under a council-manager form of government on March 10, 1992.

“Celebrating the 30th anniversary of incorporation provides an opportunity to both acknowledge Burien’s history and inspire a vision for our city’s future,” said Burien Mayor Sofia Aragon.

The Burien City Council issued a special proclamation honoring the 30th anniversary on February 6, 2023. Several former councilmembers and mayors were in attendance.

The City will be partnering with local community organizations to incorporate the 30th anniversary theme in community events, on social media, and in special publications throughout the year. The community is invited to celebrate alongside the City by incorporating the 30th anniversary theme into their own events and programs.
