Moshier Memorial Park and Parking Lot Improvements

Project Overview

The project constructed improvements at Moshier Memorial Park including:

  • Retrofiting stormwater management in the park and the adjacent parking lot to greatly reduce untreated stormwater flowing into Miller-Walker Creek Watershed region. This project implemented several Low-Impact Development Best Management Practices to improve water quality and reduce the volume and peak stormwater runoff discharges rates leaving the site. This project was determined to have the highest benefit value in the entire region for stormwater improvements.
  • Converting an existing grass baseball field into a year-round, all-purpose sports field that supports baseball, softball, youth soccer, and lacrosse in addition to practice activities for other sports such as football or cricket. The grass was replaced with synthetic turf called Rootzone by AstroTurf and the infill material is Brockfill, which is an organic U.S.-sourced material. This new field increases available field-use time for local youth organizations, as the field is available for use year-round.
  • Constructing accessible pathways from the parking lot to the restroom, ballfields, and grandstand that meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. The project also constructed ADA-compliant seating in the grandstand.
  • Replacing existing restrooms with ADA-compliant restrooms. This allows for more equitable use of the facility.
