Project Location
Lake Burien Memorial Park, 1620 SW 149th St
Project Status
This project was completed in early 2022. A grand opening event was held prior to the first Music in the Park event on July 7, 2022.
Project Overview
This project replaced the playground and walking pathway at the park. Other improvements included installing a new fence along SW 149th Street, new park furnishings and landscaping, and a new drainage solution in the field.
The existing loop pathway and entry points into the park were improved. The pathways were funded through a grant from the King County Consortium Community Development Block Grant Program with funds obtained from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The playground was replaced with a new Venti® system that packs 20 exciting activities into its compact size. It contains nets, slides, belts, and climbers, providing lots of fun and challenges that promote physical development and strategic thinking, while also creating hangouts where kids can take a break and connect with others. There are also traditional and dish swings. The new playground was funded by the City. New benches, tables and trash receptacles were installed by the City. Additional updates performed by City crews included additional fencing, landscape improvements, and new signage.
