Take the Community Survey

Biannual Survey Measures Community Satisfaction with City Services and Perceived Quality of Life

Burien, WA, June 4, 2018—The City of Burien is conducting a survey to find out what residents think about our city and city services. The City of Burien does this survey every other year in order to help make decisions on issues that are important to the community. Results from the survey will be shared on the City website and at the July 16 City Council meeting, and will help inform the 2019–2020 budget.

Questions cover topics such as: parks and recreation programs, community events, public safety, communications, transportation and public infrastructure, economic development, human services, and housing. There are also a few questions about evening community events in the downtown area, and how possible changes to our current noise ordinance could make it possible to have outdoor events in downtown Burien.

In the past, the survey was delivered via telephone calls to landline phone numbers that were pulled from voter registration lists. This year, the City worked with Koné Consulting to develop an online and paper survey that is open to all Burien residents.

The City is working with local community organizations to ensure that residents who may not receive City news or read local news outlets have an opportunity to take the survey. The City is also working with participants in its new Community Connectors program to help reach more residents. Residents will also receive a postcard in the mail reminding them to take the survey.

City staff will have tables at community locations, including the Farmer’s Market, the Burien Library/City Hall lobby, and the Boulevard Park library in order to help people take the survey.

The survey is open until UPDATE: June 25 June 18 and is available in Spanish and Vietnamese. Take the survey online at burienwa.gov/communitysurvey.
