Road Work Ahead sign.

Update 8/23/18:

Several streets from day 1 work had to be rescheduled for day 3 due to issues such as noncompliant vehicles, damage repair caused by drivers not complying with road closures, and some equipment downtime.

Weather will affect scheduling for day 3 work. The slurry application requires a dry surface. Please stay tuned to updates on the project web page. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

Garbage collection will continue as scheduled for early morning pickup. Please have all receptacles parked as usual. Recology Cleanscapes is aware of the urgency to collect garbage for those streets. If they are not able to retrieve your garbage as the result of project work, please call their Customer Service number at 206.767.3322 or go to the Recology website.

For any questions on the above work, please call or continue the project web page at burienwa.gov/slurryseal. Please do not drive on the wet slurry mix. Thank you for your final cooperation.

Slurry seal work is scheduled to begin Tuesday morning, August 21, with road closures beginning at 7 a.m. Actual work begins at 8 a.m.

See map for locations of scheduled slurry seal work.

Notices are being delivered to impacted residents. This work is expected to continue until Thursday, August 23.

Please move all vehicles as far from travel lanes as possible. Streets will be reopened at contractor’s discretion or by 6 p.m. Some streets may reopen sooner than others.

Please do not drive or allow pets to walk on the wet slurry sealed surfaces. The wet surface is not hot, but is oily, sticky, and may cause irritation to sensitive skin. Once streets are reopened, please drive slowly until the coating is fully cured.

Garbage will still be collected as scheduled until streets are treated with the slurry mix. Recology will collect double the amount of material the following week at no additional charge for any missed pickups. Please contact Recology with any question regarding collection.

For more frequent updates on the schedule of work or about the slurry seal work in general, please call or go to burienwa.gov/slurryseal.

Thank you for cooperation and drive safely.
