“It’s a Wonderful Burien” Event Series Encourages Community to Celebrate and Shop Local in Burien
The City of Burien is proud to announce the return of “It’s a Wonderful Burien”, an annual campaign encouraging community members to celebrate the holidays locally by supporting local businesses, arts organizations, and local artists. Winter lights will illuminate Town Square Park every night in December, inspiring people to come to downtown Burien for unique dining, shopping, and seasonal experiences hosted by the City of Burien and community partners.
“Burien’s small-town charm is driven by our thriving small business, nonprofit, and arts community,” said Adolfo Bailon, Burien City Manager. “We want to encourage our community and visitors to support these unique organizations this winter holiday season; their events and programs will help to create a fun and memorable holiday experience.”
This is the fourth year Burien has celebrated this winter holiday tradition. The “It’s a Wonderful Burien” event series features artisan markets; Nutcracker and other winter dance performances; a “Cookie Crawl”; an Italian chestnut roast; free photos with Santa; a return of “La Posada", a traditional Mexican cultural celebration; and many fun events. The “It’s a Wonderful Burien” marketing initiative was launched to showcase Burien gems, and to encourage the public to shop and celebrate local in Burien.
