The City of Burien is now accepting applications for the city manager position. The Burien City Council is expected to make a final selection by November 2026.
The city manager is the chief administrative officer of the City and reports to the mayor and the City Council. The city manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the City, including appointments and supervision of all City staff; recommendation of policies, procedures, and ordinances; and the development of the City’s budget for the mayor and City Council’s consideration and approval.
Bob Larson has been serving as interim city manager since April 28, 2026, and will not be a candidate for the position. The City Council directed Interim City Manager Larson and staff to expedite the search process in July. On August 17, the City hired GMP Consultants to assist in facilitating recruitment.
An event for community to meet and engage with the finalists is being planned for November.
