April 1, 2020 marks the 10th anniversary of the annexation of North Burien and Boulevard Park (southern North Highline) neighborhoods to the city of Burien. In May 2009, King County and the City of Burien passed resolutions placing annexation proposition on the August primary ballot. The ballot issue was approved by a majority of southern North Highline residents, and on April 1, 2010, southern North Highline became part of Burien.

The North Burien and Boulevard Park neighborhoods are the most demographically diverse areas in Burien. The Boulevard Park library, the oldest library in the King County Library System, was remodeled in 2019. This fall, the City of Burien is partnering with Discover Burien to celebrate the first Boulevard Park Block Party.
