Purpose
The City of Burien is requesting proposals from qualified organizations who can assist the City in providing fresh produce and food options in the Boulevard Park neighborhood commercial core.
Background
Development of the RFP was informed by Community engagement activities including a community Coffee with the City Manager meeting at the Boulevard Park Library, an online survey, in person outreach activities at the Boulevard Park Block Party, and project stakeholder meetings.
Through engagement, residents expressed interest in providing more fresh produce, grocery store staples, and culturally relevant food options in Boulevard Park.
The $50,000 in available federal funding was made possible by the American Rescue Plan Act and directed to the project by City Council.
Timeline and Application
Funding must be expended by December 31, 2026. This program may inform future investments in providing more options for healthy food in the Boulevard Park commercial core.
