Council issued two proclamations, discussed a proposed plan for addressing camping in parks and long term-solutions for homelessness, and appointed members to the Burien Airport Committee and Planning Commission

Burien Pride Month

Councilmember Krystal Marx declared June 2019 as Burien Pride Month, delivering a proclamation to the Burien Pride Committee. 

National Police Week and Police Officer’s Memorial Week

Councilmember Bob Edgar declared May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and May 12–18, 2019 is National Police Week in the City of Burien, delivering the proclamation to Chief Ted Boe.

Responding to Homelessness in Parks

The City of Burien announced a new approach to addressing unauthorized use of Burien parks and facilities. 

Planning Commission and Burien Airport Committee Members Selected

Council appointed Ryan Davis and Dr. Joe Hauser to the Planning Commission and Jeff Harbaugh to the Burien Airport Committee. Due to a tie, Council will vote for the third Planning Commission member at the next meeting on May 20, 2019.
