Community Center ADA Restroom Modifications

The Burien Community Center ADA Restroom Modification Project will renovate and upgrade existing restrooms and add one gender neutral bathroom.

Project Overview

This project will add one gender neutral restroom and renovation the men’s and women’s restrooms.

The work will include selective demolition and modifications and upgrades to existing restrooms, building systems, adjoining hallway, roofing, utilities, life safety features, and adding finishes and necessary equipment and utilities.  

Project Status/Current Updates

  • October 2021: Project start delayed as a result of the Carpenter's Union strike. Contractor mobilization occurred on September 29, 2021. Worksite secured the first week, with investigative review and utility shut-offs to provide for zoned shutdowns during the course of the work. Demolition and abatement to occur in the first half of October. 
  • Project handoff meeting August 30, 2021
  • Contractor mobilization week of September 13, 2021
  • Demolition activities begin week of September 20, 2021

Closures and Disruptions    

Temporary restrooms will be provided for Burien Community Center users. A key is available at the front desk. The back hallway exit door will be for contractor use only. A contractor containment area will help mitigate noise interruptions and dust. Scheduled utility disconnects are expected to occur for short durations.  We apologize for this inconvenience and will post notices in the atrium foyer prior to known outages. 

Project Timeline

The project begins September 2021 and is scheduled to be completed by February 2022.
