Burien Community Center Hosts Artist Exhibit

Burien Community Center Hosts Artist Marilyn Montufar
Posted on 08/06/2018

The Burien Community Center is currently presenting the works of artist Marilyn Montufar until the end of September 2018.

Marilyn Montufar uses photography to advocate for and inspire social change. She was born in Los Angeles, California, and received her BFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts in New York, NY. Her practice has also benefited from workshops in Mexico and Italy. Inspired by the diverse lifestyles that surface in major metropolitan areas, Montufar is primarily interested in documenting the transitions inherent in human relationships through the practice of portraiture and in exploring the ever-evolving urban and natural landscape. Often the work is an extended study of her subjects throughout the years, including the portrait series with intimate photographs of friends and strangers who have crossed her path. She is a Mexican-American dual citizen.

The Burien Community Center is open Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m.–8:00 p.m., and Fridays 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. For more information please call Burien Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services at 206-988-3700.
