Come to a family-friendly event that highlights our rich cultures from around the world through games, activities, food, music, and more!

Update: Due to the weather forecast for Saturday, we are moving some components of this event to the first floor of the Burien City Hall/Burien Library Building, adjacent to Burien Town Square Park.

Food and Entertainment

  • Noon12:30 p.m. La Clave Cubana Entertainment (Cuban Salsa Dance Group)
  • 1–1:30 p.m. Gansango Dance Company (Traditional and Contemporary West African Dance and Music)
  • 2–2:30 p.m. Hālau Hula Ka Lei Mokihana I Ka Ua Noe (Hawiian Cultural Halau/Dance Group)

This event is part of the City of Burien’s celebration of Welcoming America’s Welcoming Week. The Burien City Council issued a proclamation in support of Welcoming Week in August.

This event will follow all state and county COVID-19 guidelines. Everyone age 5 years and older must wear a mask both indoors and outdoors at this event, regardless of vaccination status. Let’s help keep everyone safe while enjoying this fun event!

Welcoming Week: Belonging Begins with Us (Livestream)

When: Thursday, September 9 from 3–4 p.m.
Where: Livestreaming on Facebook and YouTube

Hosted by Iranian actor/comedian Peter Banifaz, the livestream event will feature stories, messages from the Welcoming Network, and performances by Jackie CoxCary Morinthe Oakland Interfaith Youth ChoirEl Corazon de Mexico, and more!

Casa Italiana and NW Region Ferrari Club of America Present: The 2021 Italian Car Show

When: Saturday, September 11, 2021, 10 a.m. –1 p.m.
Where: Casa Italiana – Italian Cultural Center, 13028 1st Ave S, Burien

Casa Italiana and NW Region Ferrari Club of America Present the 2021 Italian Car Show! Each Italian car owner attending with their vehicle will receive a free espresso or 12 oz. latte. Visit the Casa Caffè for cannoli, sofgliatelle, panini, gelato … or just to see the pictures of our Italian forefathers and families. (Perhaps you’re in a picture and didn’t know it!)

King County Library System Welcoming Week Story Time

When: September 15, 2021, 7–8 p.m.
Where: Online. Registration required.

Family program, all ages welcome with adult. Listen to stories and sing songs together as we create belonging. During this annual series of events, communities bring together immigrants and those born within their countries in a spirit of unity to affirm the benefits of welcoming everyone.

Highline Heritage Museum Multicultural Toys & Games Exhibit

When: September–November 2021, Friday–Sunday, 1–5 p.m.
Where: Highline Heritage Museum, 819 SW 152 Street, Burien

Sea Mar Fiestas Patrias

Sea Mar Fiestas Patrias, presented by Sea Mar Community Health Centers, is a celebration of Latino culture and commemorates the independence of different countries within the Latin America region, many of which celebrate their national independence day in the month of September. It is a festival to celebrate our history while taking pride in the new generations of Latinos that now call the United States home.

As part of the Seattle Center's Virtual Festál 2021 series, Sea Mar Fiestas Patrias will be offering a film livestream on September 18 and Fitness Health Fair and Vaccination Event on September 19 at the Sea Mar Community Center, located in the South Park neighborhood of Seattle. B-Town Fiesta

When: Saturday, September 25, 10 a.m. –10 p.m.
Where: Town Square Park, 480 SW 152 St, Burien

B-Town Fiesta is an annual event that celebrates Burien’s Latinx community with music, culinary delights, traditions, and fun!
