A water quality sample collected from Lake Burien exceeded the Washington State Recreational Guidance threshold for microcystins, an algal toxin. King County-Seattle Public Health recommends that people and pets do not swim in the lake, drink lake water, or engage in other water-contact activities. The sample was collected on May 31.
A new sample will be collected next week to track the progress of the algal bloom. This page will be updated with the results of that sample.
