NEWS RELEASE

Burien, WA, March 14, 2018—The City of Burien is hosting a series of public meetings as well as online opportunities to gather community feedback on police services in Burien. By the end of April, City Manager Brian Wilson will be selecting a new police chief for the Burien police department.

“With this important change in leadership, it’s an opportunity for us to reflect on how police services can best serve the Burien community. Community input regarding the prospective candidates and what our citizens would like to see in their Police Department are essential,” says City Manager Wilson. “Community voices must be heard and represented during this process. It is important to provide the opportunity for a candidate to be successful as the new Burien Police Chief and to help build community bridges early in the Chief’s tenure.”

The City is hosting a number of public meetings as well as an online survey to gather feedback. Community input will be used to inform the police chief selection.

Materials will be translated and interpretation and child care will be available at public events. Learn more at: burienwa.gov/communityconversationpolice.
