The City of Burien contracts with King County Fire District No. 2, a special service district serving both Burien and Normandy Park, for fire prevention and suppression services. Fire District No. 2 contracts with the North Highline Fire District to provide these services to the north areas of Burien. To find out what fire district you are in, view the service area map.

Chief Mike Marrs

Chief Mike Marrs started his career as a volunteer fire fighter in 1990. He was hired as a career fire fighter in August of 1992, was promoted to fire marshal in 1997, and became chief in January of 1999. Chief Marrs is also responsible for the fire administration and chief duties to Fire District 11, North Highline Fire.

Assistant Chief Fire Marshal Ray Pettigrew started as a volunteer in 1985, was hired in March 1987 and was promoted to Lieutenant in May 2002. He became Fire Inspector in April 2010 and has attended multiple fire code classes at the National Fire Academy.
