The Port of Seattle currently owns or is in the process of purchasing a substantial portion of the NERA
, approximately 40 acres. The Port’s acreage is largely comprised of former single-family residential lots eligible for acquisition under the Airport’s FAA-funded noise buy-out program.
The Port expects to eventually redevelop this acreage with airport compatible commercial and light industrial uses over the next several years after the Port completes acquisition of the eligible residential lots. The Port anticipates completing buy-out of the additional residential lots within the NERA
by the end of 2008.
The 26 acres between SR-518 and South 152nd Street are currently owned by the Port (25.5 acres) and by Seattle City Light (.25 acre). The northern 8 acres contain the 162-unit Lora Lake Apartments, which is currently vacant but is planned to be re-populated in 2008.
