Brief Overview: The City of BURIEN (City) has received a Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from the King County Consortium Community Services Division for this project. Community Development Block Grant funds will be used for 100% design and construction.
Project will provide improvements to 165-feet of school access pathway with a hard surface. Improvements to consider safety elements such as lighting and ADA compliance. Also, project will include a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon system at the crosswalk. Crosswalk will also be improved for safety with additional signage and updated crosswalk markings.
Project Status: 9-2-16: The new Pathway to and from Hilltop Elementary from Military Road South is now open for access (during school hours.) Work is approximately 75% complete saving the upcoming new Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) signal system yet to be installed in mid-October. At that time, there will be intermittent lane closures along Military Road South. The new signal system is on order and on its way. Until then, project work will be under suspension until mid-October.
